2024 opens a new chapter for Australia Ensemble UNSW

by | Oct 7, 2023 | Ensembles, Season Launch

2024 will open a new chapter for the Australia Ensemble UNSW. Core member, pianist Ian Munro will step back from the Ensemble and Dene Olding and Irina Morozova will move into their new roles as Emeritus Artists, appearing in the upcoming season alongside members Dimity Hall, violin; Julian Smiles, cello; David Griffiths, clarinet; and special guest artists.
Join UNSW in thanking these long-term members of the Australia Ensemble UNSW Ian Munro, Dene Olding and Irina Morozova, and acknowledging their tremendous contribution to music at UNSW, at the final 2023 Australia Ensemble UNSW Subscription Concert: Carnival of the Animals held on Saturday 21 October 2023, 7:30pm in Sir John Clancy Auditorium.
The 2023 season closes in the company of the fairy tale characters of Ravel’s Mother Goose, distinctive Australia sounds of Ross Edwards, sparkling Mozart, and the deftly-drawn birds and animals of Saint-Saëns’ ‘Grand Zoological Fantasy’. On stage, the ensemble will be joined by guest artists Joshua Batty, flute; Andrea Lam, piano; Andrew Meisel, double bass; Joshua Hill, percussion and Logie nominated Australian actor, writer and director, Virginia Gay, who will perform the role of narrator in ‘Carnival of the Animals’.
We acknowledge the extensive legacy and impact of those that have performed previously with the Ensemble, carrying this into the future as the Ensemble continues to reinvent and break new ground. Detailed information regarding the 2024 concerts will be announced in late October.
Please hold the dates:
