Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra

Season 2025

“Camerata captivates the audience with their artistic skill and their joy in playing music.” Tessa Blaber, audience member

Experience the wonder and joy that is Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra in 2025!

Camerata’s Artistic Director and leader Brendan Joyce says, “Camerata is a beautiful and special  place – we rest on a long and fruitful history of joyful times, tours, dear friends and rewarding music making.

“I think our 2025 season is both the result of those things and it builds on them.

“I’ve been wanting to play the Schumann concerto for a long time now, and the chance to play a  new work with and by the exceptional person and musician that is Paul Grabowsky, and to join  forces with the exquisite new Australian choral outfit, One Equal Music – these are concerts that I’m  certain will spark joy and with music that will bring much needed inspiration to us all.

“I’m thrilled that we’ll be part of Brisbane Festival again, this time in Your Eternal Memories where  we’ll be curating music to your exquisite and eternal memories. Join us!”

March’s opening concert sees Camerata’s Artistic Director and leader, the acclaimed violinist  Brendan Joyce, on solo violin for Schumann’s glorious Violin Concerto in A Minor. This joyous  concert will also see Camerata “get the band back together”, with our wind, brass, and percussion  sections joining for what will be a thrilling, unconducted chamber music experience.

Paul Grabowsky AO, once of Australia’s most distinguished artists, will collaborate with Camerata in  May for Camerata & Paul Grabowsky: The Art Of. In this inspiring and refreshing concert, Camerata  collaborates with QPAC’s Art of the Possible artist to premiere a brand-new piece of music, created  especially for this performance! JS. Bach’s Air and Remember, by contemporary composer Eleanor Alberga, will also feature in this concert that celebrates tradition while also reimagining it.

Marking five years with Brisbane Festival, in 2025, Camerata invites YOU to tell us your stories and  we’ll match music that speaks to them! Inspired by Eternal Memory by John Tavener, share with us  your eternal or special memories and allow us to curate a concert of music inspired by you. This concert is sure to be moving, nostalgic, and hopefully, a little bit funny.

To round out the 2025 season, Camerata will collaborate with one of Australia’s newest choirs based right here in Brisbane – One Equal Music. This will be an ethereal, spine-tingling concert of music  that is both thrilling and achingly beautiful. From Bach to Vivaldi centred on an otherworldly theme, this baroque choral concert not only features voices but also glass harmonics!

As always Camerata welcomes audiences to join Camerata in the foyer after the show to meet the  musicians and have a chat.

Camerata will also embark on their annual regional Queensland tour in May/June (more details to  be announced) and present a recital series in 2025.

More events to be announced throughout the year.

Performing without a conductor, Camerata proudly takes full ownership over their music-making in  the spirit of chamber music, resulting in engaging, passionate, and exciting performances. Known for  innovative and adventurous programming, Camerata is one of Australia’s leading ensembles and  thrives on collaborations with artists across a range of artforms.
