Adam McMillan | An Evening of Chopin
Nov 9, 2022, Australian Digital Concert Hall
Adam McMillan is best known to Melbourne audiences as a recitalist, chamber musician and soloist. He has won multiple awards and can count among his teachers three “knights” namely Andreas Schiff, Stephen Hough and Imogen Cooper.
On the excellent Australian Digital Concert Hall platform he performs an extensive and carefully constructed programme of Chopin’s keyboard music.
Starting with the heavenly long Barcarolle, he progresses through some of the best-known studies and waltzes with sublime ease. He finishes with the Scherzo no 2 in B Flat Minor.
I have heard this brilliant, and famously difficult, work played on many occasions but never have I heard it played better. Adam’s fingers seem to glide over the keyboard and there is a keen depth of feeling.
Exhilarating!
