Friday 25th April to Sunday 27th April – the ANZAC long weekend
Blackheath Chamber Music Festival 2025 is a Celebration of Intimate Music-Making in the Blue Mountains
The Blackheath Chamber Music Festival returns in 2025 with an exquisite lineup of performances, bringing world-class musicians to the heart of the Blue Mountains. Across three days from 25–27 April, audiences will be treated to an array of chamber music gems, featuring Australian and international artists in the intimate setting of Phillips Hall, Blackheath.
This year’s festival opens with In Bach’s Orbit, an extraordinary collaboration between Reginald Mobley, one of the world’s leading countertenors, and the acclaimed Bach Akademie Australia. Expect a program rich in Baroque splendour, exploring Bach’s influence and the composers in his orbit.
Saturday is all about duets, with morning and afternoon concerts showcasing dynamic pairings of strings, winds, and keyboard. Artists include David Campbell & Jaan Pallandi, Dimity Hall & Julian Smiles, Andrea Lam & Eliza Shephard, and more. The evening’s program, Take Twelve, remains an intriguing highlight, promising an ensemble-driven performance.
Sunday’s concerts shift focus to wind instruments and bold collaborations. Blowing to the Wind brings together flautist Eliza Shephard, clarinettist Lloyd Van’t Hoff, bassoonist Matthew Wilkie, and saxophonist Michael Duke in an exploration of timbre and texture. Later in the day, the legendary Diana Doherty joins the Streeton Trio and percussion for a performance featuring works by Skipworth & Edwards. The festival closes with Compassion, a profound and moving work performed by beloved Australian singer-songwriter Lior, fusing classical and Middle Eastern musical traditions in a reflection on empathy and connection.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Blue Mountains, the Blackheath Chamber Music Festival offers a weekend of immersive, world-class chamber music in an idyllic setting. Whether you’re a classical music devotee or simply looking for a cultural escape, this festival promises an unforgettable experience.
