The Birth of Romanticism

This concert includes piano trios of Beethoven and Mendelssohn performed by the Orpheus Trio who have performed in regional Victoria and New South Wales on many a tour.

This concert is music at the birth of what we now call the Romantic era in music; a time when melodies were written supported with lush full harmonies and flurries of notes creating drama and intensity. The piano, as the instrument that could deliver great dynamic variety, gave birth to new musical directions and Beethoven and Mendelssohn were quick to take advantage of the possibilities in the two major works presented in the programme. Salon owner Peter Hagen says he will be delighted to hear his concert grand taken through its paces on 24 November.
