Tudor Choristers | Weekend Workshop – A cappella sacred works with Carlos Del Cueto

Have you always wanted to join an a capella choir?
Are you moved by the sacred choral works of Palestrina and Tchaikovsky?
Join us, the Tudor Choristers, in our upcoming two half-day weekend workshop February 1 and 2. Meet like-minded folk, and explore and expand your existing musicality and vocal technique to sing out loud (and softly too…).
About you:
You will already have experience singing in ensemble in 4 parts, be comfortable reading music scores and taking direction regarding timing, tone and dynamics

10: Welcome and overview

10:10 Physical and breath work

10:25 Voice Work

11:00 Plainchant – applying the above to this.

11:30 tea
-
11:45 to end – Palestrina work – Kyrie from Missa Ave Regina Coelorum.

1pm Lunch
-
2pm new Guests depart
-
2pm for current Tudors only.
-
No singing. Discussion on choir direction and expectations of members.

2pm: Tchakovsky – Cherubic Hymn No. 3. Learning the notes (ideally in separate groups).

2:45 – Tchaikovsky workshop on Cherubic Hymn No. 3

Leading the workshops:
Our workshop will be led by our music director, Carlos del Cueto. After moving to Australia in early 2023, Carlos has been quick to establish himself in Melbourne’s musical life. He has been assistant conductor at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and in 2024 he was chorus master for Victorian Opera’s production of Eucalyptus. He returns to Victorian Opera in 2025 as conductor for The Lyrebird’s Voice.
